Tips for a perfect stay in Costa Smeralda

A tour of SanTeodoro's beaches

Right outside the Hotel you can find a Bus stop. The Beach bus runs every day and takes you straight to the main beaches of San Teodoro: Lu Impostu, Puntaldia, Cala Brandinchi, Capo Coda Cavallo. The other line takes you to the charming town center.
The service is active from the end of May to the end of September. Forget about stressing out for a parking spot, enjoy the beauty of Sardinian nature from the window, between stops.

Kitesurfing, windsurfing, scuba diving and other sports

If you came to Costa Smeralda to experience a sport-based holiday, you have found the right place for you.
The 5km-long beach La Cinta is perfect to train your running resistance. Staying at hotel Onda Marina, you’ll be able to complete your morning training and take a shower right before going back to your beach day.
If you love Kitesurfing, SUP or Windsurfing, you can find facilities, rentals and schools all over La Cinta and the other main beaches. If you’re into scuba diving the spectacular marine biodiversity of the protected reservoir of Tavolara will leave you speechless. If you like adventures don’t forget to check out the motorboat tours around the reservoir.
In San Teodoro you can also find a golf club with a breathtaking view over the sea where you can relax playing on the green and inhaling the Mediterranean breeze.

Capo Coda Cavallo

Capo Coda Cavallo is an emblematic landmark for Sardinia, and it is just a 10 minutes drive away from our hotel by the sea.
It is a promontory that, seen from above, reminds of a horse tail (the name coda cavallo translates in fact as horse tail).
The most important beach of the promontory is Punta Coda Cavallo, a beach of fine white sand just like La Cinta, and albeit a little smaller of the latter, definitely not less charming.
The sea of the sheltered cove is calm and rich in biodiversity inside and outside of the water.
The view from the beach and the belvedere above it is extraordinary and offers a different perspective towards the island of Tavolara.

Tavolara Island

Tavolara is a limestone and granite island, 560 meters high, which rises next to the north side of Capo Coda Cavallo.
According to the legend, the island was inhabited by goats with gold teeth and King Carlo Alberto of Savoy docked on the island to look for them.
He couldn’t find the famous goats but instead was greeted by Giuseppe Bertoleoni, a shepherd and sole inhabitant of the island, and crowned him king of it.
Today Bertoleoni’s descendants are still the only inhabitants and keepers of this corner of paradise, embedded in the namesake marine reserve. You can explore its wonders with organised tours both hiking on land and diving underwater.
The tours to explore the marine reserve of Tavolara take off from different beaches in San Teodoro and even from La Cinta, a few meters from Hotel Onda Marina. You can ask our reception for more information about the hiking tours, the boat trips and the diving experiences.

San Teodoro

The village of San Teodoro of Gallura, despite being known as a seaside destination, was originally born at the base of a mountain, monte Nieddu.
During the winter months, the town counts about 5000 inhabitants but in summer it comes to life with the thousands of tourists who populate the Caribbean-like beaches in the day time and the picturesque old town with its markets in the evening. The markets are among the most famous of Gallura and they showcase unique handcrafted objects of all kinds.
The streets of San Teodoro are packed with bars, cafès and typical restaurants where you can enjoy a fresh glass of Vermentino DOCG, a fragrant white wine, unique of the region. The town also hosts some of the most famous clubs and pubs of the island, a trademark of fun.
If after your day in the sun, practicing sports and living adventures you still need a bit of nightlife, San Teodoro won’t disappoint!
